2025 Competition
Penn State is currently competing in the 2025 Collegiate Wind Competition. We will learn in February, 2025 if we will make the down select to Phase 3 and travel to the competition.

2nd in 2018 Collegiate Wind Competition
The 2018 Competition took place at Windpower 2018, Chicago, IL, May 7-10. The 2018 Rules & Requirements can be found here. The team was composed of a wide variety of majors including Engineers, Business, and any students interested in wind energy and entrepreneurship of new product development. As of January 2018, we had over 50 students involved in the competition activities across 17 majors. Outreach activities: 2017 Rotor STEM day, Tour for stEMPOWERed Girls program, Tour for Environmental Science class from Mifflin County High School Jan 2018, and Volunteering to help with 2018 PA KidWind Challenge
1st Place in 2019 Collegiate Wind Competition
The 2019 Competition took place at the National Wind Technology Center outside Boulder, CO in May. The 2019 Rules & Requirements can be found here and the PSU Team Page on DOE Website can be found here. The team was composed of a wide variety of Engineering majors as well as Energy Business and Finance. 2nd Place 2020 Collegiate Wind Competition Project Development
The 2020 Competition was held virtually in early June due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition was initially focused on design and tunnel testing as well as siting and project development. The testing and on-site project development challenges were cut from the competition points because of the inability to hold the competition face-to-face.
1st Place in 2021 Collegiate Wind Competition

2nd Place in 2023 Collegiate Wind Competition
The team traveled to Boulder Colorado to compete in the 10th annual event. The team was awarded 2nd place overall along with 1st place in the Connection Creation Contest and 1st place in Project Development Contest. More information can be found here.

4th Place in 2024 Collegiate Wind Competition.
The team made it through to the 3rd phase of the 2024 competition and traveled to Minneapolis, MN to compete along with twelve teams. We placed 3rd in Connection Creation and Project Development and 4th in turbine testing and 4th overall. More information can be found here.
